I recently took a two-week vacation, traveling to different places. Many lessons were learned along the way, which will be shared in future posts to come.
In the meantime, enjoy these recommended travel tips for those of faith!
- Pray before, during, and after the trip. Set the intention for safe travels. By setting the tone for the trip weeks ahead, we prepare ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually for a great time.
- If traveling with someone, pray the rosary together during the ride.
- Women looking for a man of faith will be soooo attracted to men who introduce this to them 😉 Of course, praying the rosary shouldn’t be the main reason in attracting the right partner. Praying the rosary together humbles us to be focused on what lies ahead.
- Use visiting different cities as an opportunity to visit the local churches. It is interesting to see how different parishes conduct mass.
- Check out masstimes.org for information on mass times in an area. My spiritual mentor showed me this website almost ten years ago, and the website has been very valuable in my travels ever since.
- If you can, donate some money to churches. You’ll be amazed how blessings come back to you tenfold in unexpected ways when you share your blessings with others.
- Have a playlist of gospel songs and podcasts to get you in a positive state of mind.
- Driving on the road, riding on the train or boat, and flying on the plane can feel monotonous if lasting for more than two hours. Having a playlist to listen to keeps us entertained.
- Drink plenty of water.
- It is easy to get dehydrated without us being aware in our travels. My lips chafed from not drinking enough water in the dry, Arizona desert. It took almost a week of proper hydration for my lips to heal from the chafing.
- Make stops every 2 to 3 hours. Use this to take a break from sitting, to eat food, to stretch out, and to clean your car (such as cleaning the windshield and throwing out the trash)
- Remember, Cleanliness is Godliness 🙌
- Don’t entirely rely on your navigation system to get to your location. Have a general idea on where you are going beforehand, and rely on your intuition.
- Scripture tells us to be prepared. In one of my stops, I did not enter the GPS coordinates for the place I stayed in a remote area and relied on the address given (which did not show up in Google Maps or on my car’s navigation system). I got lost for almost an hour, not having cell phone signal to ask for help.
